Jafar Shamsi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary, with joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical & Software Engineering. His research bridges neuroscience and engineering to develop energy-efficient, brain-inspired computing systems.

Ali Mahani is a research assistant in neuromorphic computing with a background in physics and computational neuroscience. He likes to tinker with software and occasionally, hardware.  Outside academia, he plays squash and goes on photo walks.

Mahyar Abbasi Larki is a Master's student in Biomedical Engineering, focusing on developing neuromorphic continual learning algorithms. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics. Outside the lab he enjoys literature, time outdoors, good company, and playing soccer, table tennis, swimming, and working out.

Astrid Honc-Gruber is an undergraduate researcher in Biomedical Engineering specializing in the design of mixed-signal printed circuit boards (PCBs) and embedded firmware for wearable technologies, with a focus on real-time biosignal acquisition, processing, and wireless data transmission.

Muhammad Kazi is an undergraduate student with the department of Electrical and Software Engineering focused on the deployment of neuromorphic models on embedded systems and hardware, bridging brain-inspired computing with real-world, low-power edge AI applications.
